Expansion

The caste which was dominant in the government of Bihar 46 days ago must have hoped that now if Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expands the cabinet, the situation will become better. But, this did not happen. Only one minister from the Yadav caste, which has the largest population, remained. There is no doubt that the upper castes benefited. Many backward castes also got more than expected.

More than 14 percent population alone, minister only one

At the time of formation of the new government on January 28, nine ministers including the Chief Minister were made in the new government. In this, only one minister was made from Yadav caste which has 14.26 percent population – Supaul MLA Bijendra Prasad Yadav of JDU quota. No new Yadav got a place in the cabinet expansion held on Friday.

Both parties paid attention to Dusadh-Chamar

The caste-based census of Bihar revealed that the second and third largest castes in the state are Dusadh and Chamar. Both the ruling parties have taken care of this. The population of Dusadh (Paswan) caste was reported to be 5.31 percent. Both BJP and JDU paid attention to this caste also. BJP administered oath to Harsiddhi East Champaran MLA Krishna Nandan Paswan and JDU administered oath to Kalyanpur Samastipur MLA Maheshwar Hazari. Both BJP and JDU have given a chance to the Chamar caste comprising 5.25 percent of the population. BJP MLC Janak Ram and JDU MLA from Bhore Gopalganj Sunil Kumar were sworn in as ministers.
